    Chenango County Workforce Programs

    “Hard-working, dedicated, loyal, a good work ethic”, these are words most often used to describe the workforce available in Chenango County. A rural county, rich in family tradition, offers a workforce most desirable to growing companies.

    Good partnerships to support employers in their workforce training needs are immediately available in Chenango County. With organizations like the CDO Workforce System housing 27 partner agencies including the New York State Department of Labor, Offices of Employment & Training, Chambers of Commerce, Opportunities program, and Educational Institutions, resources are available to help in locating and hiring, qualified individuals. Community partners such as Morrisville State College and DCMO BOCES can provide post-secondary and vocational training in a customized class-room setting and/or in-house fashion. CDO Workforce Partners provide an array of services to help companies by improving the quality and skills of their workforce. Customized training programs that are affordable to employers are developed to meet all training needs of a company.

    Support for employees in also a component of the community partners, not only do they provide quality recruitment & training services, they also assist business to retain employees by providing support services such as daycare, transportation assistance, and counseling.

    From business assessment to customized training, from financial assistance for training needs to employee recruitment, Chenango County’s partners are ready to assist you in building a quality workforce.

    Tax & Training Incentives

    Federal and state programs have made it cost-effective and easier for new and expanding businesses to attract new talent, retain high performers and improve employee skills with a minimum of paperwork.

    • Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)
      Up to $2,400 tax credit for one year per new hire
    • Worker Employment Tax Credit (WETC)
      Up to $2,100 tax credit for second year of employment
    • On-the-Job Training (OJT)
      50% of wages reimbursed for up to 6 months for new or current workers needing skill upgrades
    • Employee Training
      Funding is available from various sources to assist with employee training.

      Resource Center with computers and meeting rooms available.
